Over 30,000 individuals have been displaced in Libya after havoc unleashed by Storm Daniel
In response to the catastrophic flooding in Libya we’ve launched an emergency appeal to support the people affected. On Sunday 10 September, Storm Daniel hit north-eastern Libya, causing strong winds and sudden heavy rainfall. The result was devastating flash-floods, reaching up to three metres deep in some areas, sweeping away everything in their path. Entire neighbourhoods are thought to have been destroyed, and bridges, buildings and vital infrastructure have been badly damaged.
Initial reports indicate that over 5,010 people have died with as many as 10,000 reported missing. Some of the worst affected areas are the eastern cities of Benghazi, Sousse, Derna and Al-Marj. In Derna, two major dams burst leaving some areas submerged beneath several meters of water. People are in desperate need of our help. If you can, please make a donation today and help us save lives.
Our support will include:
- medical assistance
- Evacuating families
- Provision of food aid
- Provision of water
- Provision of clothing
Donate today and make a difference.
